It's better than not having an ex-girlfriend!
Third option is being with the (first?) one at the moment, but is it better or worse? It might mean you found the right one from the start, but it might also mean you don't have diverse and rich experience from having a few in the past. I have four ex-girlfriends, and it's more than I can take. They're all fantastic people. I sometimes come across things that one of them would like, and then I want to wrap it up and send it along. But of course I know that you can't do that. Because the current girlfriend would get mad. Because it'd make things worse. Because that train has left: I should have given it on time.
Honestly, having an ex-girlfriend, it feels like she died. It hurts. For many years.
