Honor societies are highly patriarchal societies such as the Middle East, Mediterranean and East Asian countries which operate using an honor/shame dichotomy. A man's honor is invested in the women he controls; their 'inappropriate' behaviour violates his external honor, bringing shame upon him. Correlates highly with Muslim nations and with limited life chances for women. I don't like honors. Honours bothers me.

Societies have meeting where they sit around and decide who would be worthy enough to be allowed to became a member of a society.
