What is intelligence?
Intelligence is a trait perceived by someone as an ability to do something. There are various types of intelligence, being emotional intelligence one of the most important to develop because of its social implications; yes, fortunately it can be nurtured, many psychoanalysts say. So, one can be intelligent for doing certain things but a total idiot for others, specially those one tend not to put much attention in. I believe you're misleading yourself with over-simplification. Much like a mouse doing a trick for cheese, humans are very much the same. We do actions in order to be rewarded with endorphin(s). In every action you take, you have done it for self-pleasure. Helping a homeless man will give you pleasure in knowing that you are being productive to your community collective. Such a process had evolved from our "caveman" days to build a stronger collective. Now ask yourself about free will. ;) Maybe this is wisdom and not intelligence. It takes experience to figure out what a happiness means for you, what is fulfilling to you... Intelligence is to be able to make such choices and do such things which will lead to a happy and fulfilling life. What is intelligence?
