The believer is happy, the doubter is wise.
you flush enough organic matter down the toilet every day to propogate new life for an entire planet, meanwhile someone is inventing the perfect pet grooming device. ideas with no proof are far more important than any mathmatic or scientific equation. everything will never be known but it doesn't hurt to try. to beleive in anything, it's better than knowing nothing.
This quote is intended to say that by believing in a higher power, thus an afterlife, those individuals are happy. They "know" where they are going after they die, whereas those individuals who are not certain that there is such a thing, are not as content. However, (all) religion aside, it is a very naive person who never questions anything. Hence, to doubt is to question which lends itself to wisdom. how do you or me know that the person who wrote this isn't the pope! you have no proof that it wasnt said by him
There is no proof for or against. That is why doubting is wise. Doubting in the sense of questioning. What kind of quote is this? I assume it's aimed at Christians, similar to most atheist remarks, but it is offensive to Muslims, Buddhists, and all other religions. Just because your atheist or agnostic doesn't mean you're right. You have no proof that there is no god. You have no proof that there is no heaven, or hell (or equivalents) And the bullshitter is neither. The believer is happy, the doubter is wise.
