Google is becoming too powerful. Very soon it will control most of the internet, and therefore information.
Well. Get a plane ticket to China, or Iran, or North Korea...Go there, live there, try to get a passport. Google can't bother you anymore.
Seriously, letting Google control everything is way better than letting CIA...uhmm. Don't be evil used to be their unofficial motto. They're the ones who get to define what is "evil". You are naive. The only interesting findings will be used to manipulate people in ways that they did not consent to. Google it is just a joke. There are so many other engines that do not track your IP or what you search for. Google it and be a toy for them.
Try start page, duckduckgo, and a few others.
You shouldn't even need to worry about your IP.
Use TOR and other IP changers. NO more tracking and recording by faggot search engines. Google not your friend. Records for big govt.
google is your best friend, my dear
Of course we can be fooled by false information. But if we're afraid of being duped we should also stay clear of news channels, radio stations and news papers. For they, along with the Internet, all deliver the same deception; that they represent the truth. The final truth. The end of the argument. The Truth. But truth is really nothing more than a rational assumption based the accumulation of information present at any given time. Things change. Truths change. Google, well they just direct us. Anything you want to find out everyone says "Google it " and it seems there is no other option to know things. But do we even know if the info is true or we can be mislead by wrong online publications.I too worry about Google having such access. Of course, I would rather worry than not have Google. And if Google is to operate, it ought to be the best Google that it can be. Shouldn't it? I agree that Google is becoming too powerful. A common phrase in society when somebody wants to find some information is "I'll Google it". This represents the highly powerful nature of Google as it has adopted itself into society not just as an internet site, but as an information gathering medium. This makes it particularly powerful in terms of controlling what information we see. Just like other forms of media, Google can manipulate information to present a biased and one sided argument. Google is becoming too powerful. Very soon it will control most of the internet, and therefore information. New generation of distributed search engines, email clients, etc. will replace Google and other big centralized information systems. Few years from now personal computers will be like today's supercomputers (1000 core CPUs) and there won't be a need for the centralized highly optimized clusters/clouds for analyzing and retrieving information. in the future where will I be. Lets talk lets talk oh brother I ccan't beleive its true Im so scared about he future and I don't know what to do. Lights go out and i can't be seen Internet is a global system of interconnected computers. Google cannot control the internet, but only its websites, and its index of other websites. Google can also analyze the traffic on your website if you place a Google analytics or adwords code on it, but it cannot control it. *They* not only have their public profiles on the net, they also have their DNA sequences published for everyone to see. [1]
But is there a reason to be afraid? Does Google use that data for some bad purpose, or does it use it for good?
What would I do if I had an opportunity to store and analyze so much data? Would I not do research, and try to come up with interesting findings? Would I not explore the ways to use as much data as I can for doing good? [2][3]
Now consider that you actually have a Google Account. Then, your search data gets correlated with your email data, with your browsing habits, with your news preferences, with your Google Checkout shopping preferences, and the list is endless.
Google knows what you search for, when, how often, from what locations you login, how you interact with people, who you interact with, etc...
I am afraid not because *I* have something to hide, but because *They* don't have public profiles on the net.
1. You don't have a Google Account.
2. You and your friend have accounts at a social networking site like Facebook, and also, your friend is using Gmail.
If you send your private email to your friend using Facebook, he gets an email notification in his Gmail, and therefore the whole email content gets into Google index. Not only Google knows the private details now, but it can cross-reference your data with data of your friend from FB, and his friends. You don't need to even use Google services like Google Search, Gmail, Google News, to be well referenced in Google servers. This is because so many sites are indirectly or directly a part of Google database. It is very likely that when you visit some site, your IP address and other information will be stored on Google because Google traffic analysis code is embedded in that website. But that is nothing compared to the private information that Google has about you! Consider this example:
